Residents Enjoy Free Cat Sterilization in North Jakarta

"The program was held together with Jakarta Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI)," she said, Monday (8/12).

Of 135 cats, she added, 65 were male and 70 were female. These sterilized and vaccinated animals must be healthy, not pregnant or breastfeeding, at least eight months old, and weigh at least two kilograms.

"This program is routinely held. We'll massively hold the program on other islands," she added.

Panggang Island Urban Village Head, Muhammad Fakih Burhanudin, appreciated and supported this vaccination and sterilization program as effort to handle wild animal population, especially on Panggang Island.

"This activity needs to be intensified so that no people or animals are affected by rabies. Sterilization is also important for animals without owners," he said.

Meanwhile, one of Panggang Island Urban Village residents, Wahid (51), admitted he brought two of his son's favorite cats.

"This free program is helping us much," he stated.
